I visited Tentomi, a tempura restaurant located in Kitashinchi.
The restaurant is located about a 5–10 minute walk south from Osaka Station, on the second floor of the large Ōkawa Building in Sonezaki-Shinchi.

This time, I ordered the Jo-Tendon (premium tempura rice bowl). It was ready in less than 10 minutes after ordering, and the first thing that struck me was the impressive volume of the tempura.
The tendon came topped with nine different kinds of tempura, centered around a large shrimp and a generous piece of anago (conger eel).
It includes shrimp, anago (conger eel), squid, white fish, eggplant, maitake mushroom, lotus root, potato, and onion—but there’s so much piled on that it doesn’t even all fit in the photo below.

From the photo and its sheer volume, it might look a bit heavy, but once I started eating, it felt surprisingly light and easy to finish. Of course, there was no feeling of heaviness or indigestion afterward either.
They also provided a small plate, making it easier to eat, and the service was excellent—thoughtful and attentive throughout.
It’s a popular restaurant, and there’s often a line of customers waiting, so I recommend going a bit early for lunch or being prepared to wait a little.
