When people think of Kobe’s Nankinmachi, it’s known as the top Chinatown in the Kansai region, attracting many tourists from other prefectures. But standing out just as much as the Chinese restaurants are the Kobe beef steak houses.
Kobe is so strongly associated with steak that many people immediately think of it when they hear the city’s name. The Motomachi and Sannomiya areas are home to numerous steak restaurants, with several located right within Nankinmachi as well.
Among them, as far as I know, there are two shops that serve meat in a street food stall style, allowing you to eat right in front of the shop. This time, I visited one of them and tried their meat sushi.
Since it’s made for eating on the go, your order is quickly prepared in about 3 to 5 minutes, allowing you to enjoy it fresh right on the spot. They also offer Kobe beef steak, but this time I went with the meat sushi.

『上カルビ3貫盛り:¥1,500(“Premium Kalbi 3-Piece Set: ¥1,500”)』

The kalbi was grilled rare, giving it a nice balance of raw texture and tenderness, with just the right amount of fat—absolutely delicious.
