I visited Minmin, a gyoza restaurant located in a small alley off Sankita Street in Sannomiya, Kobe.
Since it’s located very close to JR, subway, and Hankyu stations, it’s always crowded whenever I pass by, so this time I went around 2 p.m. on a weekday when it was less busy. I ordered pan-fried gyoza, boiled gyoza, and a highball.

The pan-fried gyoza are a bit on the small side, but they’re classic, nicely crisp dumplings. Since they don’t have any strong flavors, they pair well with alcohol and feel well-balanced overall.

The boiled gyoza were also delicious, served in a lightly spicy, peppery soup. The chewy wrappers paired nicely with the flavors of chives and garlic, making them very satisfying.

As they proudly call themselves “the original gyoza shop,” it really feels like a classic, traditional gyoza restaurant. It’s a perfect place to casually stop by for a quick bite and a drink, so if you’re in Sannomiya, definitely give it a try.
